My favorite bands!

(And solo artists, though there's not really a good noun that includes both them and bands). Though I myself am not a musician, music is one of my biggest inspirations, the scenes I see in my head while listening to music or stories inspired by lyrics being some of the biggest things fueling my creativity. The first six bands listed are my absolute favorites, ordered from absolute MOST favorite to technically "least" favorite, and below that are my remaining favorites in alphabetical order. But don't get confused! I love EVERY band on this page!

Tub Ring

Favorite Album: Zoo Hypothesis

Loud, high-energy experimental rock combined with clever, cerebral lyrics that tell a story. My absolute favorite band. If you want to get into them, I'd recommend The Great Filter, a great, and very accessible, album. However, if you're more inclined towards heavier music (like me!), I cannot recommend Zoo Hypothesis enough.

Dog Fashion Disco

Favorite Album: Adultery

Gritty, filthy metal combined with some damn good horns. What more could you want? (And not to brag, but I have lots of merch for these guys.)

Electric Six

Favorite Album: I Shall Exterminate...

(...Everything Around Me That Restricts Me from Being the Master. Quite the mouthful, huh?) High energy, fun, and (more than a little) raunchy... What else would you expect from the Gay Bar and Danger! High Voltage guys? But seriously, listen to something from them besides those two songs, you won't regret it. (And if you'll let me show my hand as someone very logged-on for a moment, they make better "villain songs" than anything on those crummy playlists you see around Youtube and Spotify.)

Super 8-Bit Brothers

Favorite Album: Brawl

A side project of Tub Ring focused on video games! I just like this one a lot.

The Paper Chase

Favorite Album: Someday This Could All Be Yours, Vol. 1

The first band I loved as a band, actually concience of all the other work they had made. Before I found The Paper Chase, I tended to aimlessly jump around Youtube from song to song. But The Paper Chase's unique presentation, songs flowly seamlessly to each other across the album, heavy use of samples from all kinds of sources, and odd, almost "unpleasant," soundscapes, demanded my attention. To this day, whenever I find a song I like, I immediately listen to the full album it's from in order because of this band. Now that I know what can be done with a full album presentation, I don't wanna miss out!

Favorite Album: Schemata

Beautiful four-part harmonies, meaningful lyrics... and just a bit of heaviness for texture! A wonderful play in contrasts.
